A gift for my Dad - 16 x 16 framed layout for Scraptastic Club and Scrapfit

Boy do I ever feel like I have been absent from the blogging world!!  It's just been a few days... but as with all of you I'm sure, we had such a busy, yet very fulfilling Christmas holiday time!!
I have a fun layout to share with you today.  This is 16 x 16... which I have never done this big before.  I don't know if I've ever really seen this size??!!  I just knew that I had four 5 x 7 photos that I basically didn't want to take too much from when cropping.  When putting this all together, I just had to "Enlarge" my thought process.  :-)
My Dad turned 65 this year... and as you can see from the pics, this guy is non-stop.  He is probably more active than most 25 year olds.  And not only is he active, but he is very successful at what he does... and I don't really see him slowing down anytime soon.  He gives me all kinds of inspiration.  So... I wanted to commemorate how unique he is from the majority.  My mom suggested... so I went with it.  And Thank you to Karen and Denise for your opinions on my title choices!!

I based my layout from a challenge over at Scraptatstic Club .  This is for the December Challenge #2.
You had to:
Make a special page about 1 person.
With at least 4 pictures
Journaling
And the person's name in the title
I'm hoping to complete their 3 other challenges.  But thank you to them for pushing me in the right direction so far.

I am also entering this over at Scrapfit - Weekend warm-up 21.  Just link up one of your favorite layouts.  This is definitely at the top of my list!!

And... just another subtle reminder that over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges... we are into the 2nd week of our "Holiday Cheer" challenge #69.  We are having a DT call and we have a Giveaway!!  Woo hoo!!  LOTS of reasons to get your scrap on and show us what you got!!  Hope to see you!!

Supplies:
Patterened paper from Bo Bunny
Cardstock from Stampin' Up - Basic Black. Soft Suede, Creamy caramel
Random letter stickers for Title & "65" from K & Company

Lasting Memories Ch #67 - "Sentimental Journey" (12 x 12 x-mas Layout)

Good Sunday morning!  I am finally feeling like I've got my craft craving fulfilled!  2 creations in 2 days!  Yay!!  I'm in a Holly Jolly Christmas mood... so I hope you all don't mind seeing Holiday themed crafts for a while!!  Which brings me to share with you the next challenge for Lasting Memories Layout Challenges!!

LMCB #67  is all about sharing a favorite quote or sentiment on your layouts!!  Here is my layout to share...
I honestly had never heard of this quote... but saw it and knew exactly the photos I could use with it.  It is so ever true!!  It reads... "Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree.  In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall."  I loved it!!  These are photos of the first year that BOTH kids could decorate the tree together.  This was 2 years ago.  They of course can only reach 4 feet high... so we had to do some "Moving around" when they were not looking or our tree would have been bery bottom heavy!!  I love the innocence and excitement that kids have with the tree!  I will never forget how I felt growing up!  The exact same!
Sooo... go check out what our fabulous Lasting Memories Design Team has to share with you for this week's challenge!
I hope you can find time to come play with us!  All entries are due Saturday 12/10 at 9pm EST HERE!!  Hope to see you!!

Inspirational photo 2

And here is my creation...

Close-up of Left Page...

Close-up of Right page...

It's all about the PINK and the BLUE and the SNOW.  This is our daughter at 21 months.  Her 2nd time seeing snow... and she pretty much could have cared less that we built her a snowman.  She just wanted to sit on the stairs and munch on her goldfish crackers.  Finally after a few hours... she decided that "Mr. Frosty" looked like a nice person to say Hello too.

I am entering this layout into the following challenges as well:

Getting Scrappy Ch. #21  - Use EMBOSSING on your layout along with a Cricut/SVG cut.  My embossing is on the ligh blue paper rectangles.  They are embossed with snowflakes. The 'Joy' banner and the word SNOW are cut with the Cricut.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Die Cuts - Use DIE CUTS on your layout. Again the banner, the word 'Snow' are cut out using my cricut and then the 2 colored snowflakes are from a Stampin' Up Simply Scrappin kit.

ScrapFIT Weekend Warm-up 18  - Use STAMPS on your layout.  The top blue border is stamped with snowflakes and then the snowman tag is also stamped and colored.

Thanks so much for looking and coming to visit... and I hope you find some time to play along with us at  Lasting Memories # 65 challenge this week!!!
You have unti Saturday 11/26 @ 9pm EST to link up your entry!!!  And remember there is a PRIZE!!  Woo hoo!!

I saw the leaves and the colors!
I have to say... I did this card quick.. .but I LIKE it! I will be duplicating this at least 4 more times to use for the numerous Thank You notes that I all of the sudden need.
And this is not my complete thought up creation.  I was VERY inpsired by a photo on page 53 of the newest Paper Crafts Magazine.  I used different stamps, and replaced twine with ribbon and used different type scallops.  But it's the basic idea.

Soooo.. for PLG # 6...
Create a card, scrapbook page, 3D item, knit, crochet, anything you are inspired to make by the photo at the top of this post.  All we ask is that you have FUN with it!  Link your project up by 8pm PST using Mr. Linky by Tuesday, November 22nd.

It's time for Lasting Memories Layout Ch. # 64 - Show us your HIDDEN JOURNALING!  I am sharing with you a layout from last year at Thanksgiving dinner with my side of the family.  Just Us, my Parents and a good family friend.  Do you see my Hidden Journaling??

and here is a close-up...

And there it is...

I had fun doing this layout.  Mostly because of all the patterned paper that I found (that I forgot I had...oops).  Just bright and cheery and happy to me.

I am also entering this layout into Getting Scrappy Challenge # 20 - Create a Layout of something you are Thankful for.  Need to use a Cricut or SVG cut somewhere on your layout.

And over at Paper Thrills Ch. #30 - We are to create a layout about Family.

Lasting Memories Ch #63 - Use SEPIA... inpsired by Frosted Designs Sketch 27 - "

Hello Hello and Hello!  Well here in the U.S... .our "Daylight Savings Time" has ended... so we all gained another HOUR on the clock last night.  How did you all use your extra hour??  I watched a movie with Hubby and slept a bit longer.  Heaven!!
I'm excited to share with you my layout for the start of the next LASTING MEMORIES LAYOUT Challenge #63.  Our challenge this week is to use SEPIA photos and Earth Tone colors!!  I was very excited to do this challenge... for Sepia photos is just not something I would automatically think up.  Thus the "Challenge" got my wheels turning and I am happy with the result.
This is my Hubby and I on one of our "Weekend Get-Aways" in March of 2010. (Although I accidentally dated it 2009 on my layout... oops.)   We have some silly photos from our long walk/hike on this beach that day... but I used a few more subtle/serious ones.  It's kind of funny how adults can act when the kids are not hanging at your feet.  It reminds us that we are still kids too!  My layout is using mostly the "Beau Chateux" collection from Stampin' Up.  I love the color combo.  I am also very proud of my "Cluster" in the bottom right corner.  I don't do clusters very often and was finding all kinds of fun things to add!!
I was also very inspired by this week's sketch from Frosted Designs!  So thus entering in their challenge.

I hope you get excited as I was to show us what you can do with some SEPIA photos & some earth tones!!  Link up your entry at Lasting Memories Ch#63 by Saturday, November 12th @ 9pm EST.  You have a chance to be "FEATURED" throughout the week or a part of our "TOP 3."  I hope you will find some time to join us!!

Thank so much for stopping by!!

Paper Lovin' Gals Challenge #4 meets Mojo Monday 213!!

It's time for Paper Lovin' Gals Challenge # 4.  I can't believe we are onto challenge #4 already!  Crazy!!  So what do you see in the above photo??  The patterns, colors, silhouette, the wood grain???  There is a lot going on with the picture and I would love to see what YOU see!  Join us this week for PLG #4

Here is what I created...

I think I saw a little of everything from the photo.  This was my first attempt at a fan-fold flower without using any kind of scorer.  Just my fingers.  It worked and I am happy.  :-)  And as you can see, the colors, patterns, wood grain all jumped out at me.  This is one of a few Thank You cards that I need to make for my Hubby's work.  They all gave him quite the "Send-Off" last week for his last day.  He is now in a new position (same company)... and I think he is missed at his old one.  That is a good thing!  Everyone did LOTS of sweet things for him... so I am turning into a card making fool this week.

I also used the Sketch from MOJO Monday #213 this week to help me lay this all out.  Gotta love their sketches.  I chose the square option.

Come on over to Paper Lovin' Gals for challenge # 4!!  We have a few new DT members to introduce to you as well!  Sooo much inspiration over there!  You will surely not be disappointed! You need to link up your creation by Tuesday, November 8th at 8pm PST.

We will choose a Gal Pal (Grand Prize) and 2 Honorable Mentions each week and award badges for your blogs.  Every now and then we will have PRIZES too!  So what do you have to lose?  You can't win if you don't play.  :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you get to craft some this week!!

About my layout... I have to tell ya... I knew I had these photos around to scrap still from Halloween 4 years ago... but I quickly remembered how fast my children are growing.  My son is a little Roley Poley chunk a munk at the age of 1 1/2... and it just cracked me up.  He was such a snuggly kid.  I think we had him dressed in layers that night... but still... I just love how he looked.  :-) Awwww does time go ever so fast!!  Fun memories!  That's why I/We do all of this!!
I am also entering this into Fantabulous Cricut - Challenge Me Monday #83 where you have to use a GHOST somewhere on your project.  My ghost is cut from the "Simply Charmed" cartridge.  I also used the "Pumpkin Carving" cartridge on this layout.  I'm excited that I get to finally PLAY along with FCCB.

LMCB 61 - "Bling" it on!! - 2 Goals/Soccer layout

Hello and Happy Sunday!!  My favorite day of the week!! It's the start of another fun challenge over at LASTING MEMORIES LAYOUT CHALLENGES.  We want to see your BLING!  Put some shine on your layout!  My Son scored his very first 2 goals in his soccer game last weekend.  He is playing with a bunch of older kids, so this is quite the accomplishment for him.  I don't have photos of the actual goals, but of him working the ball that direction.  :-)  I chose to add GLITTERED stars for most of my BLING and then I added some Rhinestones on the letter "O" in Goal.  I'm happy with how it turned out.
BLING Close-up!

I also used a SKETCH I found at Sketch Support to help me lay this all out.  So therefore I am entering this into Sketches in Thyme October Open Sketch Challenge.

I hope you can find some time to join us at Lasting Memories LMCB #61 this week and show us your BLING on your layouts.  You have until Saturday 10/29 9pm EST to link up.  It's your chance to be "FEATURED" throughout the week or be a part of our TOP 3!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Now I am off to watch more soccer today!!  It's gray, foggy, rainy and chilly.  Perfect Soccer weather and Scrappin' weather!!
TTU all later!!

Lasting Memories Ch #60 - Let's see some DIMENSION!!

Good morning all!  We have a fun and VERY EASY challenge today starting over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges.  Who doesn't like EASY??  We want to see some dimension!!  Whether it's dimensional elements, letters or something cool that you do with your photos to add dimension... we want to see it.
I am really not trying to rush the Holidays.  We haven't even hit Halloween yet... and here I am showing you a Thanksgiving layout.  But I just had to. (although my Canadian friends will appreciate this.)  I love my CUTE little turkey guy.  Which is my DIMENSIONAL element to share.

Here is a close-up.

Lots of scalloped circle punches for his feathers and POPPED up with some dimensionals for a 3-d effect.. and there you have it!!
Let's see what you can do with some dimension!!  You have until Saturday, 10/22/11 @ 9pm EST to link up LMCB #60.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Also... have you had a chance to check out a BRAND NEW CHALLENGE BLOG??  Hop on over to Paper Lovin' Gals and join in on the Photo Inspiration challenge.  Any project welcome!  And there is a PRIZE.  And they are looking for a few more DT members!!  Lots going on over there.  Their Challenge ends Tuesday Evening.  So you have a little time!
